GBGS COMMUNITY PROGRAM MAKING DREAMS COME TRUE
GBGS working with The Golf Mates Channel and The Golf Trust to provide a Paragolfer mobility buggy to allow disabled and paralysed men and women the chance to get back into sport.
Regular followers of our social media posts know that our Community Program supports a variety of charities and good causes across the UK. We are incredibly proud to provide funding and assistance to projects ranging from medical research and hospice care to community sports teams. We are passionate about giving back to the communities which have supported us over the years, establishing us as the UK’s No1 Ground Screw company.
Over the last few months we have partnered with the hugely popular Golf Mates Channel and The Golf Trust to provide a Paragolfer mobility buggy to allow disabled and paralysed men and women the chance to get back into sport.
It was a huge privilege to meet and share the day with John Burgess from the RFU Injured Players Foundation and Paralympic gold medal winner and local hero Stephen Miller MBE. After an initial coaching session at Durham City Golf Club, John played a few holes with our M.D. and very quickly proved himself to be a very quick re-learner, hitting some amazing shots in the summer sunshine. Over a cold drink in the 19th John said “I’ve just played the best holes of golf I have ever played, not because of how I played but just to be back on a golf course. I can’t find the words to describe the joy of being able to do something I never, ever thought I would be able to do again. Thank you.”
The Paragolfer and others around the country will be available to get people with disabilities into sport free of charge through The Golf Trust.
